Hello! My name is Percel Alston and I am running for State Delegate in the 27th Legislative District. This District encompasses the majority of Southern Prince George's County and a portion of Northern Calvert County. I've resided in Upper Marlboro, Maryland for more than twenty years; and, I have dedicated a better part of my life to serving the citizens of Prince George's County and the State of Maryland.
The last twenty-four years I have been proud to work as a Prince George's County Police Officer. During my last four years on the Police Department, I was elected by my peers to serve as President of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 89, an organization that represents more than 2,500 active and retired Prince George's County Police Officers. I have served as a representative on numerous boards and Commissions, and currently serve as a member of the Prince George's County Democratic Central Committee (PGCDCC) as a representative of the 27th Legislative District. I have dealt with a myriad of labor issues, negotiated numerous multi-million dollar labor contracts, and served as an advocate within the County and throughout the State on a number of important legislative issues.
While there are some excellent dedicated elected officials in Southern Maryland, I believe that a select few have been in office far too long. I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective on the issues currently affecting Southern Maryland. I recognize that I will work for and serve at the pleasure of the citizens of the 27th Legislative District. And once elected, I believe that I have a responsibility to my constituents to support legislation which makes our communities better, stronger, safer and more efficient. I strongly believe that it is always easier to do the right thing.
Since retiring from the Police Department, I have and will continue my life of public service for the citizens of the State of Maryland. It would be an honor and privelege to represent the residents of the 27th Legislative District as a State Delegate. I know that I can and will do better for our constituents. I need to hear your input, concerns and suggestions. Most importantly, I need your financial, physical and moral support. I cannot do this alone. With your help, I am confident that we will win.
